Has AI destroyed the Art world?

AI has recently caught the attention of creatives and designers from every industry. Why? Because this artist used AI to win a competition, the masses believe this is unfair.

Can AI replace artists?

AI has recently caught the attention of creatives and designers from every industry.

Why? Because this artist used AI to win a competition, the masses believe this is unfair. How can we compete with AI? Is Al a cheat code? If Al can create art, what will happen to artists And designers?

Let's start with what AI is and how it began creating award-winning artwork. AI is a machine that gives a series of data and analyses the data for patterns. AI is already prevalent in our day-to-day social media; search engines, streaming services, autocorrect, etc., are examples of AI taking out data and making assumptions about what we want to do next. The Logic Theorist was a program designed to mimic the problem-solving skills of a human and was funded by the Research and Development (RAND) Corporation.

It's considered by many to be the first artificial intelligence program and was presented at the Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence (DSRPAI) hosted by John McCarthy and Marvin Minsky in 1956. Since 1956 AI has been fed various types of data, such as photos, videos, information, and interactions. How we interact with the internet is shaping AI.

AI is a tool that can enhance a user's tool kit able to power through redundant tasks with exceptional efficiency.

AI relies heavily on human input; without it, it won't do anything. There are holes in AI that leave room for error, for a person must review it for common sense mistakes. AI can make exceptional work but can run into errors like plagiarism or important data getting overlooked.

Art generated by AI artist Jason Allen

Things began getting interesting when Jason Allen's A.I.-generated work, "Théâtre D'opéra Spatial," took first place in the digital category at the Colorado State Fair. AI is essentially a tool, just like a paintbrush or pencil. The device doesn't make the art; instead, it helps the artist express their thoughts and emotions. If AI has flaws, then how can it generate an award-winning masterpiece?
